1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Readium mobile application (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Readium is a mobile application that allows you to import books, PDFs, plain-text files, and web article links, and listen to them using text-to-speech technology with real-time word highlighting. The App provides both free and premium subscription tiers.

3. User Content

You are solely responsible for the content you import into the App. You represent that you have the legal right to access and use any content you import. We do not monitor, review, or endorse any user-imported content.

4. Free & Premium Tiers

• Free tier: Includes system/native TTS voices (offline), EPUB / TXT / web link import, Project Gutenberg library access, word-level highlights, and all themes and fonts.
• Premium tier: Includes all free features plus premium cloud voices, PDF import with rich extraction, unlimited library, and extended speed controls. Pricing is displayed in the App at the time of purchase.

5. Subscriptions & Billing

• Premium subscriptions, when offered, are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
• Auto-renewing subscriptions renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled beforehand, per the App Store or Play Store's standard renewal terms.
• You can manage and cancel your subscription in your device's App Store or Play Store settings.
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google according to their respective refund policies.

6. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, and branding, is owned by Readium. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the App. Content from Project Gutenberg is in the public domain and subject to Project Gutenberg's own license terms.

7. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
• Upload or import content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our servers or services.
• Use automated tools to scrape, overload, or abuse the App's services.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Readium shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, arising out of or related to your use of the App.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date on this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Readium operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.
